Activities & News

We offer a range of activities in-house and each week the service user is offered the opportunity to complete an activity plan which shows them what's on offer in-house and out-of-house for the forthcoming week.

We offer a daily stroll to the local shops, cafes, supermarkets etc. Service users are encouraged to suggest activities they would enjoy via residents meetings or suggestion box.

Some examples of in-house activities include movement to music, relaxation, bingo, quizzes, art, poetry and more.

Thorpe House nursing home has links with other agencies that offer activities such as Community Links, Pathways, Mental Health Matters, Artists in Mind and Volunteer gardening at Oakwell Hall to name some.

We have our own transport.

Where possible service users are supported to go into the community to do personal banking, personal shopping, attending the dentists, opticians, hairdressers and GP appointments etc. Where this is not possible we have services which come into the home.

Services that come into the home include:

  • Beautician
  • Hairdresser
  • Chiropody
  • Dentist
  • Optician
  • GP
  • Worship services

Supporting residents to get out and use local community facilities.
